Laser Quality Control Module
A module for dimensional quality control (QC) purposes, that works with a laser triangulation-based 3D scanner, a high-performance software (M3) for the capture and analysis of point clouds, and an Asset Administration Shell (AAS) framework, to enable interoperability, traceability, and reconfigurability in the manufacturing processes that require dimensional QC.

INTRODUCTION
The module is suitable for manufacturing industries that need flexible automated Quality Control integrated into the process. In terms of digitization, the module can be adaptable to newcomers or experienced users, as training and customer service are provided.
As part of the DIMOFAC project, this solution was transformed into a plug-and-produce (PnP) modular solution by integrating the DIMOFAC platform (developed by our partner Netcompany-Intrasoft), which is compliant with the AAS standard. This enabled DATAPIXEL to easily connect to other modules in the pilot lines by developing their respective AAS models and deploying them to the DIMOFAC platform

USE CASE
In DIMOFAC, the module has been successfully implemented on 2 pilots with different manufacturing processes: 3D printed parts and metal parts.
Laser QC proved to provide more automation to QC tasks, more accurate data about the manufactured parts, earlier defect detection, significant QC times reduction, less error and more savings.
