ABOUT

The BIBA – Bremen Institute for Production and Logistics GmbH is an engineering research institute. It was founded in 1981 as one of the first affiliated institutes of the University of Bremen and is now one of the largest research institutions in the state of Bremen. It consists of two research areas: “Intelligent Production and Logistics Systems” (IPS), headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Freitag and “Information and communication technology applications in production” (IKAP), led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Dieter Thoben. Based on strong basic research, it conducts application-oriented research and industrial contract research – nationally and internationally, in the areas of production and logistics, including in important industries such as logistics services, automobiles, aviation and wind energy. BIBA is also involved in the Bremen Research Cluster for Dynamics in Logistics and in the International Graduate School for Dynamics in Logistics. With the Log Dynamics Lab, BIBA has a service center for developing and testing innovative mobile technologies for logistical processes and systems.
