ABOUT THE VDL BUS & COACH PILOT LINE:
PeneloPe promotes worker-centric manufacturing by integrating robotic solutions (e.g. collaborative, cable, and mobile robots with cognitive abilities) to handle large parts. It uses task planning tools to balance workloads between humans and machines, supports operators with smart exoskeletons for non-ergonomic tasks, and ensures quality control through AI-driven sensor networks. Additional innovations include in-situ repair for composite panels and AR-assisted production for enhanced guidance.

The use case in the PENELOPE project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 958303 aiming to develop a novel closed-loop digital pipeline. An end-to-end Digital Manufacturing solution, enabling a bidirectional dataflow for seamless integration across the entire manufacturing value chain.
